Tnans Is much excitement in Cincin
nati over the Bible question. Referring
to the preliminary Injunction granted
against the Board of Education, restrain
tog It from excluding the Scriptures from
the Public Schools, the Ovate says:
"This takes the question directly into
Court, Prezliely the ground upon which
the case is to be legally contested, we do
not know. The decision of the Supreme
'Court of the United States in the Girard
will case, which we have already liven
in our columns, has a hearing upon this
case, and 'will have Its Influence.. Two
pointa were clearly decidect by Chief Jus
tice Story: I. That it wouldbe against
public policy to prohibit religious in
struction in an educational institution.;
and 2d, that the Bible is a religions but
not a sectarian book. We are aware that
such men as Eckel. Vickers and Miller
profess to know more about law and
what is best for society than Justice Story,
but our Courts will hardly retard them
of equal authority. But, whatever may
be the result of the legal contest, an
appeal has been taken from the decision
of the accidental majority In the Board
of Education to the people of Cincinnati,
and this will be fully beard dUrier.the
next six months and decided In April
through the ballot-box."'

crowded with colored people, migrating

The colored labor of the country is gravi

and leaving a clear field here for the
