that there would be a decline this
month, these hopes have not yet been
realized. In this market to-day, good

about the price of Rye, and as a come
finance it la difficult to give accurate
quotations. So far as we can discover,
there are but very few buyer., even for

though, as we noted yesterday, a demi
ler who wants to buy on time, together
with the use of auks., would have to pay
R@is ate. more, and dealers 'generally pre
fer to accept the low Oguree, rash, and
thus avoid the risk of carrying paper,

in getting bags returned. Oata quiet

notice. The market to-day, if anything,
was a little stronger, compared with yes•
terday, and there were buyers at yester
day's quotations, with no sellers. The
foreign advice' continue rather favora
ble for higher prices, but owing to some
cause or other the markets in this COW]
try do not respond. Taking Antwerp as
a basis, refined should command 81 or 35
in Now York, but it will not bring over
83, and even at that there I. no life in the
trade, and the market, as already noted,
is extremely quiet and has been so all
week; Indeed, we might say for several
weeks. Hope■ are still entertained,
however, that there Is a good time com
ing, and that a stronger market and bet
ter prices, la only a question of time.
The crude market appeared to be
somewhat stronger to-day than It was
yeaurrday, with more buyers and fewer
