The inquiry for money is increasing, and within the next week the fall busi ness is expected to open up, and with a greater. activity in money matters will doubtless depress Government and other securities, firmly held for an advance during the period through which the Treasury will continue to buy-bonds. The purchase of two millions to-day did not advance prices even at the firm feel ing in the gold market. 10.40 bonds are strong, and ex-coupons sold at 112%, equal to 115% interest included. an ad vance of one half per cent. The fear of a tight money market toward the end of this month, and the uneasy feeling in Europe fOr financial and political reasons, keep Government bonds very inactive, and dealers are indisposed to buy for a rise any more than what they need for daily transactions. Gold opened at 133%, declined to 153 1 8 , but advanced again to 134% strong, and sold down t 0133% at the close of business. The bulls have a difficult task to sustain the market, and they are making great scrifices for the sake of keeping up stocks,' and to be en abled to sell out at high prices. It is too late in the season for cotton shipments, else gold and exchange would sell at lower rates. With a more active export for cotton, however, it is reasona ble to suppose that gold will go far be low present quotations, the more so since our bonds hae been well sustain ed during the excitement in Europe a few days ago. PITTSBURGH LIVE STOCK MAR . KET. PEKWA CENTRAL STOCK YARDS, WEDNESDAY, Sept..l, 1869. CATTLE. The market has been quite active and considerably excited thus far this week; and with an active demand and only a moderate supply, prime cattle, compared with last week, have advanced fully 50 cents per cwt. This is owing to an im protement in New York, and the New York shippers are responsible for the advance;lhey have bought nearly all of the cattle that nave been offered thus far, Philadelphia buyers not being able to compete with them, and to-day there is not half a dozen cars in the pens Un sold. The lower grades were also in better demand, and sold more readily, in some instances, at slighly improved prices, though as a general thing, this kind of stock, compared with last week, is unchanged. As will be seen by reference to the report of sales, several bunches of good cattle changed hands at 714@7%, and an extra drove would • have brought 8 cents.
