PETROLEUM. MARKET. OFFICE OF PITTSBURGH GAZETTE, TUESDAY, August 17, 1869. The Titusville Herald of yesterday says: "•We are reliably informed that during the first half of this year, twcire fiqing firms of Pittsburgh snipped east an aggrezate of 50,000 or 54,000 barrels of refined, which has ,not been reported in the shipments from that place." That there is some truth in the above report of the Herald, we have reason to ,belleve, as we are mcnizant of a consid erable amount of oil haying been, ship- Ted East within the past four or five (months which was never reported to (the Press. These shipments were made on the Western Penna. Railroad, and it is well known that the reporters have been unable to get a report of all the oil that has been shippedby this route, and, , as a consequence, the aggregate ship- ; ments from Pittsburgh east are consider ably larger than our reports would indi 'cate. `Whether there has been forward: ad on this road as much oil as the Herald reports, is a question of doubt, 'though it may be true, as we are cogni- Izant or one concern that has shipped ;over 20,000 bbls since the first of April, lof which no reportiwas ever made to the !press. This being the .case, Pittsburgh ;is not so much behind in her shipments ( Maus far this year, compared with last iyear, as the trade has:been led to believe, 'though, in consequence of the inequal !ity in prices, manufacturera generally have made less money, as during part ;of the time this year, the margin, when there was any, was on the wrong side. CRUDE The market continues very quiet, but a single sale reported, 1,000 bbls spot, at 5. The feeling, however, appears to be :easier, with a little stronger inclination some quarters to sell, though, as yet, there is no disposition manifested to :make concessions. REFINED. Not a single sale reported; market ;quiet and without quotable change. :Spot oil quoted at 32: last half August, !ly s ,ejt32l4; Senternber, 323@33, and last three months, 33. LtIBRIOA:T32CO OILS.
