h Goy. Geary and the'Veto Power.
A Harrisburg paper says: It appears
the oflical records just issued that the
io power has been excercised by. Gov.
nor Geary sixty times since January 1,
80. Of the bills thus defeated forty
:quieted in the House and twenty in the
mate, and a number yet - remturCto be
ed upon. Twenty-six were disParded
avine the Courts had jurisdiction, -or
, cause they covered such matters of
i'pcial legislation as were inadmisiable.
'lye were rejected on constitutional
bonds, among these being the one
thorizing the Governor to commute , '
deatkpnalty. This bill would have
'an the Executive the power of setting
ide the solumn verdict of any jury in
State, in criminal casts. No bill be-
me a law over the veto.
;The power exercised by . the Governor
tt only defeated the particular bills, but
evented hundreds of a similar charac
from being passed. The resolution in
.; Republican platform, endorsing the
,vernor for restraining the evils of spe
-1 legislation, was based upon these ve•
:?.s. Among other reasons given for
t approling a certain supplement, the
ivernor declared that the original bill

Mire State. An insurance company had
en granted' a charter by- the Legislature
do business with a millions of dollars
pital, when but five hundred dollars
:4 been paid in. This charter was re
pted. -Another bill was so carefully
awn as to be without meaning, and
11l another (passed by the Legislature)
,oposed to authorize a company to
Ponstriict and use such works and im
. . ;ovements as might be necessary and
pedierd by them." This enormous
'ant was properly refused. The charac
r of the vetoes makes it apparent that,
far as the Legislature was concerned,

this connection, the Harrisburg
3tegrapli makes the following points :
'First—That Governor Geary bas vetoed
pre bills passed by the Legislature than
of his predecessors. and that he is the
lily Governor who had the nerve to veto
Ils passed in the interest of "Mammoth
irporations."'
.',Second—The Paster and Folder Job was

7 IThird—The Herdic Bill was passed by

ad it was well known here that if it had
~,-e.;:en presented to Gov. Geary he would
aye vetoed it.
, Fifth—All the passenger railroad bills
• ,gned were demanded by the people. •
ISixth—The cattle bill was not passed,

Schenck's Mandrake Pills act upon the liver,
removing all obstructions. relax the oucts of the
gall bladder, the bile starts freely. and the liver
is soon relieved; the stools will show what. the
Pills can do; nothing has ever been invented ex

unlock the gall bladder and start the secretions
of the iiverltke Schenck's Mandrake Pills.
Liver Complaint is one of tire most prominent
causes of Consumption.
Schenck's Seaweed Tonic Is a gentle stimulant
and alterative. and the alkali in the Seaweed,
which this preparation is made ot, assists the
stomach to tnrow out the gastric juice to dissolve
the food with the Pull:ionic Syrup, and it Is made
IMO good bleed without fermentation or souring
in the stomach. ,
The great reason why physicians de not' cure

give medicine to stop the cough. to'stop chills,to
stop night sweats, hectic fever and by so doing
they derange the whole digestive powers. lock.-

sinks and dies.
Dr. Schenck, his treatment, does not try to
