THE HONONGATIVA VALLEY RAILROAD.
Mr. Briggs, President of the Mononga
hela Valley Railroad Company, was pres
entouid ,bv-invitation made a few , re
marks. ,Be stated that the Company were ,
anxious to procure the_ right of way, and
he desiredro know if the -matter was in
the hands of a Committee. He was
answered in the affirmative,
when he
stated, that anew plan had ' been
presented by the Company, shoWing
a new route through the borough. In
stead of traversing Manor street, Breed
street has been selected by the Company,
then along Mary Ann street and Into
Manor street between Ninth and Tenth
streets ; This route would be more de
sirable, being of an easier grade, and
Breed street would /I/Bird—the Company
more radiate: for depot purposes. He
stated that there was very little, if any.
opposition to' the • Breed street route
through Enid Binisingham, and the Corn:
parry had not any diffieulty about the.
route through- Birmingham. " - -
A member .stated -that there was de
cided opposition -among the citizens of
Breed street, in Birmingham, to the
route. - -
Mr. Briggs remarked that the Manor
street route had never been approved by
him,,and had only been recommended
by the City Engineer: He had consulted
the President of the -Pennsylvania Rail
road, and hestiggested the Breed street
route as the best-t - - That Company's En t
gineer had - examined the. Breed street
and also reported in its favor.
Mr. Atterburi suggested that the Coun
cil hold a !special meeting a week hence
to 'consider the aubjecj of :granting ,the
right asked by the Company ; -
On motion of Mr. Schwerin, the . Coen
cir agreed to meet on' Saturday afternoon
next for the purpose' of going 'over the
route with Mr. Briggs and examining

On motion of Mr.. -Ward, „the. Burgess
was authorized to -pay Messrs. Hastings
& O'Neill 11,000• in sums as they desired
