For years past Pittsburgh has drawn
liberally on the west for Flour and
Grain, but the way matters now stand
it looks as if we will have to get supplies
nearer home. All kinds of Grain and
I\lour, too, are now relatively , higher in'
the western markets than here, so that
the margin is the wrong way to dealers
buying there for this market, and as .a
consequence, the receipts from Chicago •---;
and Milwaukee have been remarkably
light for scne . weeks past, and unless
there is a change soon, one way or the
.
other, they will have to - cease altogether.
To illustrate, No. 1 Spring Wheat was
was quoted there on Monday, at f1,38(4)
1,40, while prime old Red Winter, is sel
ling here at f„1,40, and heretofore the lat.
ter has always been considered worth
more than the latter. Choice Spring
Wheat flours were quoted there yester
day at $7,00®7,25, while good Winter
Wheat brands are being sold here at. •

more. This is operating badly on dealers
as the majority of them are almost out of

cessfully compete with western flours,

previous, but no essential change in
prices, which is owing to the tight mon
ey market. It is very plain that no per-
