A Goidlluctuated to-day between 135% and 135%, with a firmer" feeling at the close. Market.for the present seems to depend more on the quotations for bonds i.n Undon.;tban anything_; else. The present demand is rather light from im porters, most of whom are still awaiting larger shipments of grain to cause gen erally lower rates of exchange. The speculative interest is also ligh.t Opera tors-ate taking in small margins and not likely. 'to buy, hoping to see the market touch 133 to 134. The present condition of the market is precisely, or , very nearly so, as lastistutimer. The mar ket was then quoted weak and aull dur. ing the fore part of July, everybody holding back to get cheaper - gold, when suddenly the upward movement set in from 134 with almost no reaction until 150 had been reached, and even then it wee unprofitable to sell. The Euro-- pean situation, of the western states, n. regard to-occasions for war rumors, is favorable to raise excitement—whether based on facts or rumors is,unimportant , so the reports are plausible. Government bonds are rather weak, previous tott large gotiernment purchase of three millions, and shows that doubts are entertained whether present quotations can be sustained or not. A re action to any point nearer 119 for -new bonds would no. doubt ,bring out more Sellers and stock-the market. Stocks were very dull, but have re covered slightly from the extreme de- Pression. The larger operators are nearly all ont of town and the 'market istruplpulated by small °dealers. Money' et/ky-il Quotations as received by Ph. There is no improvement to note the generalmarkets; tior is it expect that there will be until.the latter, part asst IBOTAR: demand _for aim everything is very light, being reetri ed entirely to supplying immediE wants while in values there are no i; portankchanges. The Weather, we regret to,say, cc tinues wet and, nfavorable for harve • ing, and considerable • apprehension manifested as to the result. As we ha repeatedly stated, there is not mu, , doubt but what there will be an avers, crop, but had it' not have been for t long continued rains, the yield, dont less, would have been unprecedented: the history of,this country.' The receipts of wheat at Chicago week were 534,412 bushels; against a 1 tle over 300,000 the week •precedir These liberal arrivals, in view of t ,fact that country people generally a busily engaged in harvesting; would dicate that there must stilt be a go deal of last years crop in the we Another noticeable feature is the Ii that there iano margin between'Chica and the sea-board, or any other pia and most of the stock there is in t hands of the "bull-ring," who are doi everything in their . power 'to "bull" v market and. keep it up until they out. 'The same was done last year, a there is every indication that an atten is now being made to repeat - it. OE these "bulls" get. =loaded, they v turn "bear," and will resort to all kit of strategy to break the market dov and keep it down until they have agi loaded up. The Bureau of Agriculture estima' that there are more than a million ac of whiiit this , year above the average 1868, which was over 10,000,000 act and it states that returns w rant the belief that lowa has 2 000; more - than in /868; Ohio, 1 , 000; Indiana, - 130,000; Tennessee;-130,0 and Missouri, 98,000. It this estimat. correct—and the. Bureau of Agricult; is pretty good authority—it is probe , that this increased acreage will mt: up for any deficiency caused by the ‘. cent rains and that the 'yield will tainly 6tas r era g e_;:attcl probably e siderably more than an average.
