OFFICE OF PITTSBURGH GAZETTE, ,
• SATCRDAY July 17, 1869. • ,
The oil market has been Moderately
active this week, there having been a
fair volume of business in the aggregate,
while prices aie a fraction' lower, and
the feeling to-day, particularly :for. re
fined, was weak and drooping. The
most important feature we have to ncp.
tice,Wes the;discotrery'pf a delcrepancy in
the report of the, .Titusville Herald for
the month of Jane, which changes the
situation Materially in regard to the
production:: Instead of a decrease of
something like, One hundred barrels per
day, as the report of the Herald made
it, there has been an increase of over
seven himdred barrels per day, compar
ed wi t tli . the month preceding. It is fair
to idd that no sooner was the discrep
ancy discovered, than the Irerald made
necessary corrections,. thus evincing a
disposition to do what is right, and just
in regard to the matter. So soon as it
was ascertained that the production had
actually increased instead of having -de
creased, the market weakened consid 7
• erably, and prices ruled lower, and the
feeling generally, i 3 not as strong as it
was at the begining of the week.
Receipts Crude this week, 14,280 bbls;

ary let to date; 247,710; same time last
year 305,213. Sales this week 87,161; last
week 57,300.
CRUDE.
The Crude market is a shade stronger
than it was on Wednesday and Thurs.,
day, and sellers generally are endeaVor
ing to spring a slight advance. Spot or
sealer this month is held at 14%@14X,
with but very few buyers above 14%.
Sale 1,400 bbls spot (43 gravity) at 1,4 X,
and 1,000 .seller July at 14%. We are
cognizant of an offer to sell 5,000 bbls, ,
seller all year, at 14, without. finding a
buyer. Buyer all year, nominal at 16%.
REFINED.
As already intimated the market for
Relined was a little weak to-day, and
prices, compared with yesterday, were :a
shade lower.. Sale 50d,bbls each October
