MEM • ,• • A A The bona-flde Radicals of Virginia as sert that the Administration was deceived into 'a partial support of the Walker movement, and that the so-called Con servativeri are now laughing in their sleeves at the success which would never have crowned their efforts if the President had not' listened to the appeals of his s political enemies. . It is Charles H. Langston ' of Kansas, who is an applicant for the. Liberian mis sion, and not his brother, John M. Langs ton. The ratter was at the White House a few days since, not as an applicant, brit in the interest of his brother Charles. The President said he had determined not to make a change in the mission for the present, but if the incumbent should be .removed, he would appoint Mr. Charles Langston. There are rumors that a dispatch has been received from 'London stating that Mr. Motley had a long interview with Lord Clarendon and Mr. Gladstone, yes terday, in reference td,, the Alabama claims, and that the American Minister was dissatisfied with the result. A Washington telegram to the effect that Senator Cameron and the Hon. Wayne McVeigh called on the President and protested against the appointment of Ben jamin Harris Brewster .to the Cabinte, and that Senatbr Cameron - also recom mended Mr. McVeigh for the Attorney Generalship, Is a pure invention. Gen eral Cameron and Mr. McVeigh did have an interview with Grant, but nothing was said of Mr. Brewster or of the Attorney Generaltihip, or of any appointments to any office. t The President will at once lune his proclamations ordering electionsin Texas and Mississippi en the fourth Tuesday in November, which is the 30th of that month. The constitution of Texas is to be submitted as a whole, it not being thought advisable to allow a teperate vote on any provissiOns. The Mississippi constitution is to be submitted with a sepeaate vote on the enfranchisement clause;'and also on the clause defining who are' voters. Both elections take place on-the same day. The stories pup lished about 'Judge Dent consulted the President about accepting the Mississippi nomination are denied by that gentlman. Judge Dent settled id Mississippi direct ly atter, the close of the war, has all his money Anvested in property there, marri ed a Mississippi woman, and expects to live therermanently. Hon. Will pe iam Welch, of Philadelphia, has notified the President of his resigna tion as one of the Indian Council of Nine, and Mr. Bruno, of Pittsburgh, has been appointed in his place and designa ted by the Indian Bureau as temporary chairmtui of the Council. It will be re membered that Mr. Welch claimed that the law under which they were appointed `gave the Council power to contract and direct the whole Indian service, including the vast appropriations ;made by Con gress to carry out treaty stipulations. The President gave the law a very dif ferent interpretation, and' held that the Council was only an advisory body in the Matter of disbursing the two pillions of dollars/ appropriated for maintaining peace With the several Indian tribes. In a cerrespondence between Mr. Welcliand the other members of the Council, they held that the President was right in his construction of the law ' ,and Mr. Welch immediately resigned. They will be di, vide& into three sections, one to visit Kansas and the Indian Territory, another to visit Nebraska and Dakota, and a third to take everything west of these States. The Quaker societies who selected and recommended the Indian Agents of that sect appointed by the President; are pre paring to make an inspection of the work of their people. 'Both branches of the sect, the Hicksite and the orthodox, will send out delegations, at their own ex pense, to inyeatigate and report to, their respective societies how their brethren are performing their duties. The Hicksite delegation started to-day, and the other party will leave next week. Judge, Dent, who has signified his wil lingness to accept the Conservative Re publican nomination If tendered, declares that the party must unequivocally in dorse the Chicaeo platform, the recon struction policy of Congress, and the Ad ministration' If he is to be its candidate; this being done there seems to be no reason why there should be two Repub lican tickets in Mississippi. In answer to the statement published by the New. Yerk Agent of the Associ ated Press, that great indignation was manifest among the banking firms in Wall street, becaese one or two of their num ber had anticipated his intention to pur chase more bonds, Secretary Boutwell says that it must have been mere specu lation on the part of those persona wile so' anticipated his intentions. He `says not a living being other than himself knew of the fact that he' would issue an order . for the purchase of an additional number'of bonds until he communicated it to the public himself. He rymembered, the charge on a previous occasion of his intentions having been known in Wall street before he made them public; and this time tookspecial careto trustno one, and kept the matter secret. 'From this it, would seem that those persons who oper ated in the money market on the suppo sition that Mr. Boutwell' would` par •chatte more bonds, did so at a risk, and were simply shrewder than their co temporaries. - It is reported that Governor Walker will be elected to the United States Sen ate frtnn Virginia ' thus.placing the State Executive in the hands of the Lieutenant Governor elect,..who is a, , Southern man, and a strong Conservative. . This is the only way to cure consumption. To these three medicines Dr: J. H. Schenck, of Philadelphia, owes his unrivaled success in the treatment of pulmonary Consumption. The Pill. moult Syrup ripens the morbid matter in the lungs, nature throws It off by an easy expectora tion, - for when the 'phlegm or aktier i rlf.n slight cough still throw it off, and the patient hai rest and the lungs begin to heal. . T., do this, the Seaweed Tonic and Mandrake Pills must be ireely-used to - cleanse the stomach and liver, so that the Putnionic Syrup and the food will make good blood. Schenck's Mandrake Pills act upon the liver, - removing all obstructions, relax the ducts of the gall bladder, the bile starts freely, and the liver is soon relieved; the Stools will show what the . Pills can do; nothing his ever been invented ex. cept 01. deadly part son witch is very dun. gerous to use unless with startre that will unlock the gall bladder andthe secretions of the liver like Schenck's Mandrake Pills. Liver Complaint is one of themost prominent causes of Consumption. Schenck's Seaweed Tonic - is a gentle stimulant ands cl teratile. and the. alkali In the seaweed, -`,which this preparation is made ot, - Swats the stomach to tnrow out the gastric juice to,dissolve the: f ood with the Pulmonic Syrup, nun it 18 made Sato Rood flood without fermentatiunior souring in thottomach. The great reason why physiclaus So not Cure Consumption Is, they try to do too much; they give medicine to stop the cough, to Stu') chills,to atop night sweats, hectic fever and by so doing they d. range the whole digestive powers, lock ing np the secretions, and eventually the patient sinks and dies. yA Dr. Schenck, in histreatinent, does not try to stop a cough, night sweats, chills or fever:- Re move the cause s and tiley will nil stop of their own accord. No one cauche cured of Consump tion, Liver Complaint.- Dyspepsia., . Catarrh. Canter, Ulcerated Throat, unless toe liver and stomach are made healthy. "..‘, If a person has consumption.. of course the nags in sone Way are diseased, either tubercles, abcesses, bronchial irritation, pleura, adhesion, - or the lungs are a mass of inflammation. and fax decaying. In such cases what must be done? It Is not only the luaus that are wasting, but. it is the whole body. The stomach and liver haveloffi their power - to make blood out of fo d. Now use only cuance is to tate Dr. Schenck's three we'll. Myles, "which will bring tip s tone to - the 'stomach, the patient will begin to want food. It - will digest easily and make good blood; then the _patient _gins so gain in flesh. and as soon as. the.body gins to grow, the lungs commence- to heal up, • and the patient gets !Silty and well.
