We understand that all of the boat
yards up the Monongahela River are
crowded with busine3s--oite of them is .
reported as having been: obliged, to re
fuse additional contracts. From'all that
we can learn, therd are more new. oats
now under contract here than there has
been for several years., ,
We learn that quite% number of boat
builders made a very narrow escape
from being instantly killed at Browne
ville. The rigging which supportedA
the hull of Capt. W. )1. Brown 'a new
tow boat, gave way, While the men were
'at dinner,- and fell to the ground, a dis
tance of several feet. If -it had occurred
an hour before or an hour afterwards it
is probable that from twenty to twenty
five men would `have been crushed to
pieces as there were about that number
employed under the' hull "planking,"
but ;very fortunately it happened when
alt,Wrere at dinner, and no one was iri
jured.. The aceident is' attributed to the
recent, rains having - Wet the ground to
ti
such an extent as to cause it to Ye way.
