Durtug the past two days late borrow.

Pdptannis, June 30.--A - tornado passed
Over the city at - four o'clock this after
noon, accompanied by hall and rain; den
=dishing signs, awnings, and uprooting
shade trees. The:Virginia, lying at the
wharf, bad her chimnies blown down,
breaking in he; roof, and a great portion
carried some two hundred yards up the
levee and oveethe top of one of the high=,
est blocks in the city. No lives were
lost as far its known, but it is feared the
destruction Of property and- crops has

not prepared to defend the "treatment of

prisoners and not compelled to do any
