CATTLE.
The supply of Cattle to-day, was not up
:to that . of lastweek either in regard to
, ilutubers or quality, and in the absence
of any inquiry for shipment, deservi9g

which usually prevails when there is a

Dry Goods Market.
Nsw Your, June 28.-The. Dry Goods
trade is quire - languid, but prices are
nevertheless firmly maintained for cotton
fabrics and on some grades of bleached
Muslins we have to report No per yard
advance from the lowest on the Fruit of
the Loom, telasonville,Lonsdale and Hill's
Stomper Idem.
RIVER NEWS.
River was again receding last
evening with five feet four inches in
channel by Monongahela marks.
Weather continues cidudy and Unsettled
with frequent showers of rain. Mercury
at 4 Y. at., 85—in the forenoonit was up
to 82. • , •
• The Bellevernon, from St. Bon's, is the
only transient arrival we have to report.
This boat has made a good record in re
gard to speed, and is now considered'one
of the swiftest sternwheelers on the
western waters.
Capt. - Vanhook, of the Great Republic,
is still in the city.
The Inns No. 2 arrived from 'Zanes
ville and mil, depart , malty, u naual at
4 P. at.
—A dispatch from Quincy. of June 24,
sayin The suit of James H. Waahing
ton, negro, against the St. Louis and
Keokuk Packet Company, for damages
for refusing him afield at the table with
white passengera, and • for afterwards
ejecting him from their staamer, the
Andy Johnson, was called to-day in the
Circuit Court here. Washington, claims
f 2,000 damages, but • the impression is
that he will get nothing.
—lt is rumored that Capt. J. Alex.
Frarler, has purchased an interest in the
Lady Gay, and will take command of
her. , -
—A St. Lords dispktch says that Capt.
Wm. W. Ater. for himself and associ
ates, will leave there next week for
Louisville, to contract, if possible, for
the building of a propeller, which is to I
be a huge barge, with cargo box sun.'
mounted with a texas pilot house and
Chimney. The vessel is to be 280 feet i
long. with 50feet beam and no guards,
and to draw three feet astern and hard
ly anything at the bow. Iler capacity
will be about 2,500 inns. The hold -will
be divided into several water-tight Com
partments. She is designed lor the St.
Louis and New Orleans. trade as a grain
vessel.

the place of the Telegraph in the Cin
cinnati and Big Sandy trade during low
