Why Presiou,lfiugCominltted Suicide.
A new revelation pf the cause which
drove Preston Ring to suicide is made by

claims to bave been in the confidence of

Indiana Coal.
It is found that the coal of Indiana can
be used in the manufacturer of iron, and
that it can be laid down Chicago for
$2 per ton. Lake 'Superior iron can be
laid down at Chicago for $lB per ,ton.
Oyer this discovery Chicago rejoices,.and
the. Tribune observes: . "If these acts
and figures are true, the opening ati of
the railroads to the Indiana mines will be
the signal for the building of iron fur-
nacesin Indiana and at Chicago &limpidly
as capitalista can. comprehend the situa
tion and regulate their investments ac
cording to the opportunity for profit which
they present., It is simply linpossible
that the Lake Superloi iron shall travel
to Cleveland and Pittsburgh after a coal
of:the very best quality for Smelting, and
free from sulphur, can be laid down in
Chicago for less than the cost of the coal
of Pennsylvania."
ON Monday last, two brothers, residing
in Sharon, Pennsylvania, by the names
of Rufus and Daniel Williams, iron
workers by trade, drove over to übbard
to have a spree, in the afternoon. Dur
ing the continuance of it, while -both
were engaged in eating' cheese, with their
pocket knivts, some difficulty arose as'to
their respective merits as marksmen,
both having served in :the army, luruig
which Ruins, the younger, turned the
knife in his hand and struck - his brother
a back-handed blow with it, penetrating
:to: the heart, remarking that he could
beat him stabbing any way. The injured
man, instead of attempting to defend
himself, passed his knife over to his
brother, and told him to stab him again.
Dinieldied the next morning from the
effects of the wound, and the fratricide,
,who - had been arrested, was taken before
Justice Mitchel, who, upon l examination,
bojtnd .him over and .vent, him under
-guard to: Warren, where he was turned
over.to the Sheriff for safe-keeping. The
parties were both Weishtnen, and the ap
pearance of the murderer is repulsive and
brutal. . •
