NEW YORK, June 24.—The dry goods
market is quiet, and indications are that
prices of plain cotton fabrica have reached
their highest altitude for the present, and
we find a reaction of 31c per yard to-day
in prices of various makes as follows:
Hope bleached manna are down to 16c,
and so are Blackstone A, and A A do.,
MTatic Lake I, and Hill Seinper 'dem are
reduced to 18c, and the Lonsdale, Mason-
villa and Fruit of the Loom to 18%c.
Whittendon plain cottonades are down
lc, and Plaids of the same brand 236 c per
yard. The Lewiston A, Ludlow AA,
Great Falls A, and Pacific A A bags are
firm at 450. Merrimack D Prints of
fresh styles and colors are np to 13340,

The iriver is again receding at this
point with seven feet two inches in' 'the
channel. Weather Clear and pleaiant
and el! that could be desired for'out-door
business,
The Kenton. from Portsmouth. is the
only, arrival we have to report. The
Glendale, from 'St. Louis, is due and
will doubtless be found in port this
morning.
The from Farrow and barges departed
for St Louis with a good trip.
The Petrolia has taken the plalie of the
Grey Eagle in the Parkersbug trade.
The towboat Ha% keye will leave for
St. Louis to-day:with some 800 tons of
railroad iron and she has 100 tons of
nails engaged at Wheeling. At Park
ersburg she will take ia tow two barges
of oil. The railroad iron was made and
is shipped by the. Superior Mills. -
Several of the towboata.that departed
On the recent rise with coal, were so un
fortunate as to - stick' IrOrne - of their
barges at different points below. The
Lion stuck one barge at Brunot, and
went on with the balance. The Grey
Hound stuck 'three at 81erriman, "and
the Blue stuck` (we 'do not know how
many) at..HorsetalL
The R. C. Gray, Capt. Isaac Whitta
ker, wililpositively depart for St. Louis
and the Upper Mississippi to-day.
The Kate Putnam, Capt..G. .W. Reed,
takes her departure for Cincinnati and
Louisville to-day, and 'passengers and
shippers should bear this in mind. -
Tne Wananita,, Capt. 0. A. Dravo, is
up for St. Louis and the Upper iissis
sippi. She will aoubtless get away to
morrow.
—The Stella and Alps left New Orleans
for this port on Tuesday, and the Lorena
arrived at St. Louis the same day.
—The Great Republic left New Orleans
with a light cargo, and will make a
quick trip to St. Louis.
—The Beardstown was at Wheeling on
Tuesday. She, will go within ten miles
of Pittsburgh, and then return.
—The•Jennie Baldwin arrived at St.
Paul Saturday, and took her place in the
Dubuque line, the business rendering
five, boats, instead of lour, as heretofore,
necessary in the daily line between St.
Paul and Dubuque.
—A few of the enterprising young men
of Pekin, Illinois, i hi ve built a small
steamboat, which is to be used for plea
sure and profit. She is built of Tazewell
timber, by Tazewell men, while her
'machinery is also of home production.
—The contract for carrying the mail
from Paducah up Tennessee, River was
awarded on the 15th to a man named
Winters, of 'Alabama. He agrees to
carry the mail three times
.a week for

—Certain well-itnoin parties of St.
Louis, praotimi .boatmen, are engaged
on Outs for the construction of a.propel
ler Suitable for the navigation of the
Mississippi and the ocean. They have
abundant means with Oich to carry out,

—A " Loialiville telegram says: The
Bermuda wad sold to Captains Benson
and Watts, of Madison, for the sum of
748,008. .They intendji t place her in the
Madison and Vinciri n trade. They
expect to have her ready for the fist
trip in the trade next week.
—The St. _Louis Democrat of Monday
says: The Thompson Dean' arrived at
Carondelet oat twelve o'clock on Satur
day night, and put out there 500 tons of
railroad iron. But for the burning of
some of her boiler rivets, which detained
her eight hours, she would have made
the trip in seven days, although she bad
for Cairo the enormous cargo of 1;100
tons. She brought here forty cabin
passengers, &a., including ex-General J.
B. Hood's mother and sister-in-law, Mrs.
Hannan. The General comes up next
trip..
