The gold market remained firm and
very strong at times from 137 k to 137;x.
The fact that the Government will sell
two millions per month from after July
Ist, imparts a firmer feeling to the mar
ket and those who sold gold for want of
currency, are anions to cover at present
rate; since it is doubtful whether the
July interest, owing to European bond
holders, will not have to be remitted in
gold.

Government bonds were very dull
early this morning, brit advanced about
-one-half per cent. and closed strong.
Stocks are firmer since the money
market is easy. Nearly all the clique
stocks have advanced and the general
list is for higher, quotations Cleveland
is "expected to ;advance sharply and
Reading is likaly to touch 102. Fort,
Wayne is uncertain, although its friends
do not doubt but that after the ratifica-+
tion of the lease to the Pennsylvania
Central a dividend of at least 80 per
cent. will be made in stock and Cash.
