OFFICE our PITTSBURGH GAZETTE,
FRIDAY, June 18, 1869.
Government bands, tinder a severer
pinch in the mousy market, kept steady
to-day at about yesttirday's quotations.
The decline in gold has imparted more
firmness to, the market. it being ex
pected that laiger orders from Eurore
will take all that is offered on the mar
ket, and foreign bankers are shipping
again; yet exchange is very dull and
sells even up to the specie shipping
point, it being anticipated that bullion
will have to be shipped in payment of
July interest.
Gold opened at 1373;, but gradually
declined to 136;', for want of any party
courageous enough to stay its temporary
decline. ' On account of the scarcity of
nioney'large lots are forced on the mar
ket to get currency.
#lock-1 are dull, heavy and lower and
even the clique stocks have suffered,
such as ' is,lew York Central, Northwest..
ern, Cleveland - and Fort Wayne, which
latter remained firm' at yesterday's de
cline.
Money, lookseasy yet, but it is likely
to be very tight in July next.

was more anxiety to sell at Oil. City .than
for several days past. The "bears" have
been in the ascendancy now for two I

or three times in a day, thus affording a
fine field for these who are of appeettia-I
