WEDNESDAY, Jane 18, 1869.

Money is exceedingly scarce in New
York, so that even Government securi
ties are thrown on the market and sacri
ficed, to avoid paying a high rate of
interest. Gold, which is strongly held
by parties confidently awaiting higher
prices as soon as shipments of coin harp
to be made, were likewise compelled to
sell and at one time the market fell
to 137 y„ reacting, however, to 138 and
closing steady at that. ~
Government bonds declined still fdr
they to-day and new bonds had touched
119, 10.40'6108, and 1881's 121.
Stocks were dull and lower, reaching
at one time about one per cent. and clos
ing with ,a better feeling.
Our land money market moves easy
with an increased amount of money
offering on first class mortgaged city
property. Allegheny Valley bonds are
selling up to 88346 but at that figure there
are but few buyers.
: wiliness in general seems to improve.

OFFICE OF Prrrsnunea GAzErre,
WEDNESDAY, June 16, 1869.
The markets generally continue very
dull and stagnan; and what is worse
still, there is but little prospect et any
immediate improvement. The demand
for everything is very light. and under
the influence of a sharp competition
margins are very much reduced and in
some articles a positive loss has to be
accepted. There is one great coneolk r
tion, however, the prospects ftn. the In=
Lure are very encouraging, as with good
crops all over the country business can
not fall to be good, though it is probable
that prices generally must still further
decline, and with this prospect in view,
business men are disposed to °airy just
as little stock as possible.
