PSTIatiLEUMI I MARKET. OFFICE OF PITTSEMIGH GAZETTE, WEDNESDAY, • June 16,. 1869. . . The oil market, aslwas the case iyes terday, opened strong r and somewhat excited,' but as the ay advanced it be came weaker, and bef re the close there were offers to sell at 'esterday's quota tions. It seems that there was consider able excitement at (in City and Titus ville for a time, bat there as here, it did not last long, and it was intimated in certain quarters that, the "flurry" was gotten up for effect and that it fell short of the mark. It is also intimated that it is reported in the oil 'regions - that there is a large June short interest in Pitts burgh. While there are doubthisa some shorts, as there always are, it Is said that the short interest here is not near as heavy as .outslders have been led to suppose, and if operitors up there are e p rating in expectation of catching, up th shorts, they might be sadly disap po ted. As already/ intimated, how ev r, the market is firm, and prices— asi e from these little aflurrys" which occur almost, every day—are well MTh tallied. CRUDE At one time the market was, strong with no sellers of June below 15, hut. subsequently, the same delivery, was offered ati4X, without finding buyers. Sale of two lots of 1,000 each, sellevJune. at 14%, and 1,009 seller all year, at 14. There was a sale of seller June, early in the day, on private terms, understood to be 14M. = • Sale of 500 each July to September ' •at 33; 500 July to Dectmber at 333; 600 each same months, a 33; 1,000 last half September, 33%; and 1,000 July at 3334. Captain is onaldson appeared in good health and pirits, and bore nimself with quiet con lie was accompanied by his young brother-in-law, who ,seems very much attached to him, The °enamel young asked for a postponement until Wed• nesday on acccount of the absence of witnesses, but I the Judge concluded to open the case on tbe ground that it would probably take longer then:Wed nesday to obtain a jury and , hear the evidence 'for the State. Jurora were then called, and out of a panne' of thirty-six ten were selected, but .they are still subject to challenge. It is.be lleved that there will be much difficulty in obtaining a jury, as the olrohrnstaxi ces in the case are so well knoirri that nearly everybody has not only - formed an opinion, but made up their minds about the case. The result of the trial can't be even conjectured; but if the two colored witnesses, Glover and Ray, who were in the 'baggage room at the time Anderson was •shot, testify as _they did before the coroner's jury at the time of the occurrence, it seems almost impossi ble for Donaldson to escape conviction. i —The Lawrence reshipped her 'Haiti: villa freight at Cincinnati, and goes on the dock. —The Argosy is loading 'at Cincinnati for Pittsburgh. —Captain Dan G; Taylor has turned over the office of Supervising Inspector of the Fourth District to Alf W.
