LlMasnAv, June 10, , 1868: - •
The oil market :was somewhat 'pan
, acky to-day and considerably excited,
• and from the opening until about 4:r. IL
there was a steady decline in prices;
toe decline was jtist about as rapid a s
the advanes ou Monday. For a time it
looked as the bottom had been knocked
out, and • nearly everybody wanted to
sell out and, as already, intimated, mate=
concessions were made in order to
• - effect sales. Leto in the day, however,
there was a slight reaction and at the
- close there were offers to buy Refined
'for 'this month at an advance of half a
bent, compared with the lowest point
touched in the afternoon, and, as a con
sequence, the market , closed somewhat
. 'stronger. As will be seen, the sales
• and re•eales were large, especially of
Refined, while compared with yesterday,
prices are decidedly, lower.
A gentleman prominent in the oil
trade furnishes us the following figures
relating to tonnage chartered, refined
oil aboard and a ticks in waretacusei in
Philadelphia. Believing that the result
of his personal investigation may be of
some interest to our oil men here, we
publish' his .statement. Under datelof .
