FINANCE AND TRADE, OnFrogoePrrtsstrzetui GAzzing, WEDrrEsDAT, June 9, 18e9. Money being exceedingly tight In New York, Governibeld bprfttatecks and gold ,adffored a heavy decline. Gold opened at 139 g, declined to ,139 X, advanced to 1393 x, and croied firm l et 18*. The clique formed a few days ago to advance gold have tried their best, -but- could not sustain the market. Governments opened firm' at closing quotations of the previous day, but de clined about one•quarter of one per cent. at the close. Stocks were firm at the opening, but seemed to be on the upward move again, when some heavy sales were made by the principal bull operators and the market suffered a decline of from 2 to 4% per cent. The watered stockisuf fared severely and New York Central sold from 1993 down to 186; Fort Wayne from 'l5B to 155%; Cleveland at 94%; Northwestern from 41 -to 88; Reading from 98M to 97; Old Southern sold down to 105 g, after having been at 121. The presaure does not seem -to be over yet and a very panicky feeling has taken hold of all the small operators. The Fort Wayne men who thougut that stock Cheap at 159, is anticipatiemtif scrip div idends on the 22d instant, are more de sirous to sell out and await lower quota tions.
