REVIEW YOB THE WEER
The most important feature we have
to notellits week, is the remarkable and
unexpected advance in prices. Crude
Etas advanced fully two and a half cents
since this day week, and Refined, for
June N delivery is three to three and a half
cents higher; as already intimated, the
advance was , entirely unexpected, com
ing as it did right on the heels of a very
sick market, and, everybody expecting
.a still hitcher decline, instead of an up
ward movement. This, sadden reaction
is attilbrited to the fear-that there is a
sharp detnand for spot oil on the part of
isrportengit is said that there are vessels
-at New - York with an aggregate capers
ity;,of 120,000 tails, atPhiladelphia;7s,ooo
bbls, and that new charters to the ex
tent of 70,000 bbut have been made at.
New York within the past'few days.
The receipts of Crude and shipments of
Refilled have again been liberal during
the Weak, and at no time this year has
the oil badness presented so satisfactory
an appearance as at present. Additional
refineries have beenstarted up, and what
is better still, there is a better margin
for the refiner now tha n a week ago, and
it is to be hoped that this will continue
throughout the entire season.
Receipts Crude this week, 18,124 bbls;
last week, 7,232; from January Ist to
date, 277,150; same time last year, 536,-
92&, Exports Relined this , week, 10,449
bbls; last week, 12.589; from January to
date, 168,958; same time last year, 205 ,-
588. Sales this week, 119,000 bbls; last
week, 95,700. As will be seen by the
above, our receipts of crude and ship
ments of relined, this year, fall largely
behind phase of the same time last;year.
CRUDE.
Continues strong and considerably ex
cited and, compared with yesterday,
prices have still further advanced.

fluence of a sharp export demand, and
Prices have still further advanced. Sales
