W.Unrutiinkr; June 2, 1869..
Gold declined to-day to 148,g, after
having sold as high as 139%. The de-
cline in ithe premium is attributed to
the scarcity of money which set in be-
fore the close of banking hours.
Government securities were dull and
lower seolng at the close at a decline of ,
thrp-elghts per cent, although the Gov.
ernmentL !ought early in the day at
about , l2ok, for new bonds.
Stocksi are buoyant and seem to, be
'Prell sustained by the cliques. The gin•
oral market is a rising one in its ten
dency and there is scarcely any proba
bility that stocks will- go down peruia
.
nently before later in the , season, when
,
money, becomes scarcer.
In our;local market things'eriqniet'as
usual. ralley ponds are about 83; Co
lumbia reports a sale of between 19 and
20, and i Atlantic Telegraph Company
18%. For Bank stocks the demand con
tinues on all the old banks, hut the new
institutiors do not share the same pat
ronage by investors.

PITTSBURGH MARKETS.
OFFICE OF PITTSBURGH liAZETTE,
WEDNESDAY,. June 1869.
The markets in a general way are de
void of anything new or important;
nothing worthy of special notice. The
demand for everything isl very light,
being cdnened mainly to supplying the
immediate wants of consumers, and
with a light volume of busineigs in the
aggregate, prices generalli , remain un
changed. The dull season: is now'at
hand • and it is likely to continue until
after harvest; this is usually tho case at
hhi season of the year, and we see no
reason why this summer should be an
exception. i
