    PITTSBURGH IRON MARKET.
OFFICE OF PwrsnußoH GAZETTE,
FRIDAY, May 28, 1869.
:rho market for metal continues quiet
though this is usually the case at this
season of ths year, as the time is not far
distant when the mills generally sus.
pond opetations in order to take stock and
Make repairs. With only moderate re
ceipts, however, and no great accumula
tion of stock, and notwithstanding, the
tendency is downward, prices compared
With last week, have undergone no im
portant change. There is still some in
quiry for small lots or desirable foundry
irons, and a very limited supply of this
particular kind in market.
Bar Iron and Nail trade is reported
dull"and unsatisfactory, and the season
all through has been a hard one on man
ufacturers. There is not so much com
plaint in regard to the demand, as there
is in regard to the extremely low prices;
it is said, and we have no doubt it Is
true, that manufacturers, have great
difficulty in realizing, cost and that if
they even do that, they are doing well,
and that other points, in order to estab
lish a trade, -have been selling below coat.
