The Glenciale, Capt. Hare, with the
veteran Mellon, in the office, is an
nounced to depart for St. Louis and the
Upper Mississippi to-day without fall.
She is, in all respects, one of the best
boats in the trade.
The Renton met the Wananita at
Economy yesterday, morning, and it is
said that she looked as though she had
been sparring. Sits could not have had
very much trouble, however, as she
only le ft here on Wednesday afternoon.
The Matamoraa No. 2, Capt. Dalzell, is
announced to depart for New Orleans to
\morrow, and those interested should
bear this in mind.
The Armadillo is up for St. Louis and
the Upper'Mississippl.

—The `Belle Vernon was to have left
Cincinnati \for Pittsburgh on Wednes
day. \
—The Glasgo Ot,. Paul to Pittsburgh,
arrived at St. Louis on Sunday with a
full cargo. Capt. Aridy Robinson says he
likes the St. Paul trade, and intenas to
stay in it. The distance from Pittsburgh
to St. Paul and back to 'the point of
starting is 4,024 mil essomeisay more.
-L'A St. Louis dispatch under \date of
Tuesday saye:. The following towboats
and barges are now lying at thelron
Pilo, at Carondelet, waiting cargoes of
ore; Mary Davage and two barges; Tom`
Reese, three barges; Garrett, two barges;
Allegheny Belle, four barges; besides
about twenty barges, owned by old Bill
Brown, of Pittsburgh, and the Ohio Salt
Co. The Reese will leave for Pittsburgh
to-morrow, the Davage, Thursday, and
the Allegheny Belle and Garrett will fol
low soon'after. The Tom Farrow will
go to the iron pile to-morrow.
—Active steps are being taken to form
a company to bridge the Mistiouri river
at Boonville, with a capital of $1,000.000.
From present indications the stock will
be rapidly taken. A charter has been
applied for.
—The steamer Stonewall was caught
in a storm on Tuesday, six miles below
Brunswick, on the Missouri- river, and
had her chimneyictexas and part of her
cabin blown away.
—The Evansville Journal of Monday,
says: The Belle Vernon, from St. Louis,
arrived about eleven o'clock last night
with an, excellent trip. - She laid here
some time, while Captain Darragh was
trying,to' make some filsPosition of au

Wednesday, says: The Silver Moon still
remains fast on the rocks. Her cabin
furniture was taken off. Capt. Henry
Jones President of the Cincinnati ,
Memphis Packet Company, was here yes
terday, and turned her over to Capt.
Pink Varble to get her off when the
river rises. Capt. - Merillees and the
crew are still aboard of the Moon.
— A Meniphis special to the Cincinnati
Commercial says: The steamer Cora S..
from Cincinnati to Arkansas River, with
a valuable cargo,sunk, this morning, at
Fletcher's Landing, Arkansas River,
fifty tidies above_ the month. _The boat
is
will probably total loss. A portion of the cargo
be ,saved. Both are in
sured in the Cincinnati offices. As far
as known, no lives are lost.
—A steamboat clerk thrashed a West
ern delegate to the Commercial Conven
ladtion in Memphis, Friday, for insulting a

—The Keokuk Gate City learns that at
a late. , :.hour Thursday evening, the
steamer Canada, on-'her up trip, Wed
nesday night, struck a snag near Canton
and came near sinking. The boat sus
tained considerable damage. •
—The New 'Orleans Times of Friday
says the steamer RiChmond had a splen
'did trip of paaaengers, and' but little
freight. Ftplghts for the Ohio River at
present are her scarce.
—Red River is falling above the Raft.

River is receding rapidly at Camden.
Other tributaries continue in good boat
ing order. The river at New Orleans on
the-19th was within three inches of the
high water mark of 1862.
— Popular Bluff, Missouri, a point on
Black River, is the head of navigation on
that stream. The steamer Malta arrived
at the wharf on the 12th. and left ; on the
14th inst., with a good trip of passengers
and feight. The navigatiOn of Black
is
