PETROLEUM MARKET
OFFICE OF PITTSBURGH GAZETTE,
WEDNESDAY, May 26, 1869,
There was a moderate degree of activ
ity displayed, to-day, there having been
a fair volume of business' In the aggre
gate, white compared with yesterday pri -
ces have still further declined. The
most:important:feature we have to notice
is the fact that exporters are . reported as
having bought pretty freely yesterday
and today, and this, in the present con
dition of affairs, may be regarded as a
good omen. hile it is true that the_
<
decline has hurt some operators, yet it
is probably hatter for the trade at large,
as it has brouget these foreign buyers
into the tield, and the market cannot be
regarded as being in a healthy condition
when prices are so inflated that ship
ments cannot be made to Europe.
