now quote live geese feathers at SO to the
trade, and the usual advance in a retail

FLOUR—Is quiet, with a moderate lo
cal demand, and no change to note in
prices. Spring Wheat brands, $6,50@7,
Winter Wheat, 77,50®8. Rye flour, $7 ®
7,25. Fancy brands are quoted at s.l6®
10,60, but there is little or nothing done
in this grade of flour, excepting in a re
tail way.
GRAlN—There is no movement in
Wheat, and prices are nominal at 21.45®
1,50 for winter. Oats scarce and higher,
though difficult to quote correctly; No. 1 '
held at 68@70 on track, and 73@75 in
store. Ear corn is in steady demand at
53®6.5c, while shelled may be quoted
at 78®80. Rye, in the absence of sales,
may be quoted at §1,43®1,45. No move

HAY—Is dull under the influence of
increased receipts, and. prices are barely
maintained. We now quote prime baled
at 830 on wharf.

was 14, and the poorest brought to mar
ket at 1.0@12. The receipts of Sheep in
the earlier part of the week were excess
ive, and with very limited inquiry; the
prices receded about lc from Monday
last. The rush of sheep into the
market, has been, at times, so large
and the demand se limited, that 5,000
remained unsold at the close of business,
while prices for sheared Sheep, which
are beginning to form the bulk of the
supply, ranged from 4 to 7, with wooled
at 534(4)8; to-day's offering was 8,000 at
Communipaw, 2,000 at Hudson City, and
5.000 at Fortieth street, and the market
remained dull at the close. Lambs were
also more plenty and lower;' sales during
the week, 15,500; we quote common to

fluctuated during the week, opening
weak and lower, became firmer, but

Compannipaw, but the market was dull

PHIDADELPHIA, April 26.—Beef battle
dull and favors the buyer; sales 1,278
head at $9,50@10 for extra western steers;

common. Sheep dull and lower; sales
6,000 head at 63 @B.y,c per pound gross.
Hogs dull and lower: sales 4,000 head at

The weather yesterday was clear and
pleasant, and all that could be- desired
for out-door business.
The river continues to recede steadily,
with six feet four inches in the channel,
by the Monongahela' marks.
No arrivals to report aside from pack
ets. The St. Mary, from Cincinnati, was
a little behind time. having been de
layed by a big trip and a heavy way bus
iness. She was expected in last evening,
and will depart to-day as usual. She Is
an excellent packet boat. ' Capt. J. C.
Sweeney in command, with Morris Dor
sey_in the office.
• We have no details in regard to the
Urilda disaster, with the exception that
Com. Kountz received a telegram yester
day reporting that Capt. Hazlstt had es
caped. She belonged to CaPts. Koontz,
Haslett and others, and was at one time
engaged in the Allegheny river packet
trade.
The Bayard has been sold to the St.
Louis and Keokuk Packet Company,
and will leave for St.: Louis within the
next few days.
The Glasgow, Capt. Andy Robinson,
Jr., is announced to depart for St. Louis
and the Upper Mississippi to-morrow.
Sheds a good !poet, and in tip-top condi
tion for business.
The Kate Putnam, from Nashville. is
expected in today. The Argosy and
Messenger, from St. Louis, are en route
for this port.
The Bellevernon cleared for St. Louis
with a good trip and engagements below,
including 1,500 kegs nails at Wheeling.
Pilots--John Ferguson and Urine Reno.
The Lorena, Capt. Sena. Shuman, J.
M. Vandergrift clerk, is, filling up
_steadily for St. Louis and the Upper Mis
sissippi.
The R. C. Gray will positively leave to

Louisville. -
Ben Miller, an old flat boat pilot, was
shot and killed in a gambling saloon in
Louisville on Friday night, by Joe Crox
ton, also a pilot.
The Waunita, Pittsburgh - to St. Louis,
passed Louisville on Friday with a good
trip.
The Senate failed to take action, upon
the nomination of Mr. G. W. Houghton,
as Supervising Inspector, in place of Col.
J. V. Guthrie, who will hold over unless
suspended by the President. -

turn at Cincinnati hereafter.
