Mrs. Eliza Gross testified' that she no ticed the difference of the treatment of the children as , soon.as the -family catue there; Mena was half clothed; the bad treatment of the girl was talked ofaniong the neighbors, but they feared Mrs. Malsch, who was very violent; she threat ened to knock witness' brains out once. Malsoh is probably liss over fifty years of age, and his wife some years Young er. _ They are strong, hearty p9rsona, and apparently very ignorant. Mrs. Malsch has a bad look about her, while her husband is simply brutish in appearance. Other; itnessa were pres• ent to testify In corroboration of that' al ready detailed,' and many more were promised if needed. Mayor Brash, how enough-idered that he had mere than to warrant him in holding the de fendants to answer the charge.
