—Our court report, some times ago,
gave the particulars of the case of the
owners of the St. Cloud, against'one of
our insurance companies. This was the
second trial in which the insurance com
panies have been worsted.' We under
stand that the owners <of the boat—prin
cipal among whom are the present• own- .
era of the Westmoreland, Messrs. Rusk,
and Byers—have been In ' consultation
three or four 'days with representatives
of the various insurance companies, and
that a compromise has been effected. the
condition of whichis that the insurance
companies are to pay to' the owners of
the St. Cloud, $13,000. Had judgment'
been rendered against all the insurance ,
companies in each suit, the owners
would have recovered $15,000 and Inter
