PITTSBURGII MARKETS;
OFFICE OF PITTSBURGH GAZETTE,
THURSDAY, March 18, 1869. '
Business generally continues dull, and
the long looked for improvement has not
yet taken place. The demand for almost
everything continues very light being
restricted mainly to supplying immedi
ate wants, as the policy of all business
men seems to be to carry just as little
stock as possible, s 6 that in case of
shrinkage, in valne; the loss will not be•
so heavy. Notwithstanding money is
comparatively easy, there is an entire ab 7
Bence of anything like a specula:ive
feeling, and many 'business men, in the
absence of any other employment, have
invested their money in United States
bonds, feeling assured that it is the safe
est and most profitable investment they
can make at present.
