The general markets continue very
quiet, and devoid of anything that is
really new or important. 'There seems
however, to be a more cheerful feeling
in commercial circles, since the inaugu
ration, and with a 'conviction that the
financial affairs of the country will be
improved, business men entertain hopes
that trade generally will looin up, and

The Grey Eagle, Capt. C. L. Brennan,

The funei slot the late Capt. A. C. Mc-
Callum, Sr., took place yesterday, and
although not present, we have no doubt
it was largely attended. Thus is - added
another to the large likt of steamboat
men who have -departed this life

Capt. Dawson, who bought the Petrolia
the other day, contemplates running her
as a regular packet between Wellsville
and Steubenville. • -
-The Stonewall has been .withdrawn
from the Red river trade, and was to
leave New Orleans last Saturday for
St. Louis, to take her plate in the ~ 0"
Line.
—The New State, being rebuilt at Par
kersburg, is rapidly assuming the form
and substance of a steamer again. Her
new engines are partially: . set, and
the fra
me-work of the cabin is nearly in
closed. I ,
-The Glasgow and New York were
advertised to leave Cincinnati for Pitts
burgh on Thursday. The latter boat
would have left on Wednesday, had it
not been for the Armadillo tearing Off
her fantail in backing out on. Tuesday

tities of flour are now being received at
that port: almost every boat from above
brings'a few hundred barrels. The aver
age receipts for the past week will run
over 1,000 barrels, The greater part of
