The vee presented.a very dismal and and eserted appearance, yesterday business being almost entirely sns-• pended, but little freight offering for any point, and as there was only one ar rival, the receipts, too, were hasignitl cant. The inauguration may have had something to do with it, but the main cause is the low water, and it is not likely tkat any of the boats now in port, excepting the'packets, will venture out until there is a rise. The Renton arrived from Portsmouth, and will depart again as usual to-day at 4 r. at., Capt. Wash:Kerr in command. The Bayard, - Capt. Geo. D. Nashville; and Savanna for Upper Mis sissippi. —The Glasgow arrived at Louisville on Tuesday. —The Rate Putnam and New York, were to have left Cincinnati for Pitts burgh on Wednesday. —The Lorena, loaded down to the guards, and crowded with passengers, arrived at St. Louis on Tuesday. • —Mr. William Wherry, clerk of the Rate Robinson, has retired from the boat, and goes into business with his brother at St. Louis; —The Glasgow, which loft St. Louis for Omaha several days since with a large number of emigrants, has been obliged to lie up at Herman in consequence of ice. —The Underwriter's diver is working at the wreck of the Empire, sunk in the Mississippi. At last accounts he had recovered twelve barrels of molasses and six tons of iron. —The Memphis Avalanche of Sunday says: The Great Republic, on her way down, encountered a severe snow-storm at Point Pleasant, Friday night, causing her to take the bank, losing several hours on account of the storto. —The Rubicon oi' the Vicksburg line - last year, brought orders to St. Louis from parties living between Memphis and Vicksburg, amounting to f 226,000. This was the business of one boat, and shows the extent and importance of the 'trade. —Captain Ford, of the tug Nettie Jones, who was arrested ,a few daps since at DuvaWe Bluff, was ! released, on Monday, at Little Rock, on a writ of habeas corpus, and gave ball in $20,000 to appear at the May term of the Circuit Court of Phillips county to answer •the charge of robbery. —William G.
