There was an increased supply of Chtr
tle on sale today, nearly nine hundred
head, but, with a gdod local demand, the
market was firm and prices, especially
for good Cattle, were fully sustained
.
There was but a - single eastern buyrr in
attendance, and up until the time we left
he had not bought a single hoof, nor Is
- it likely that he would, as we. PreartMs
that the butchers would pay more for
the kind of cattle suitable for shipment
than he could afford to give. The fact Is,
good Cattle always bring a fall price in
this market, and we doubt very much
whether there is another place in Oa%
country that is supplied with as good
meat as Pittsburgh and Allegheny. The
very best Cattle in the West ale brought
to the Alllegheny • market, and there is
scarcely a week passes but what 'our ,
drovers buy the very pick of the Chicagd
market, and it takes the very best to sat
isfy some of our butchers.
There was one small drove of extra
line steers on sale to-day, brought here
from Chicago by Marks &Co. Eight of
these weree nought by Chas. B. Weide
(successor to James Hda,g, No. 80 Pitts
burgh market) at nine and a half cei2B
per pound.

was again light to.day. less than six hun
dred, but the market appeared to be
very quiet, the demand having fallen.off

arrivals is the fact that the shearing sea. ,
son is near at hand, and farthersure not
anxious about selling until , after the
wool has been taken off, unless they get •

. The market was again dull' and very
unsettled to-day, and, as has been the
case for some time, the volume of busi
ness' was exceedingly lig h t. There
seems to be little or no , demand, compar
ativedy speaking, for either (present or
future delivery, anil prices. although
weak, are without quotable ch ange. It
is reported that there is a he avy "bear"
movement in progress in the 'KARI, whose
object it is to break the tuarSkt as badly .
as Possible, and this once accomplished,
the bears will load - up, , I and then
change their tactics. And it is also said
that the parties, who are most; fmnsplo
ous in this last movement; are the same,
who a short time since, were the wildest
of bulls, and if so. they will doubtless ,
bring the same influence to -.bear to
break the market down that' they did to
put it up. Be this as it may, the market_
is exceedingly dull,'and unsettled, and
within a week, prices have declined
PRUDE—The market is - . inlet and
rather dullish, though compared with
Saturday, prices hays undergone no ono-
table 'change. We can report two aides
on spot, one of 500 and other , of. 700, both
at 16%, and while the aemarid seems to
be light, there is none offering below
