The ATmadillo, Capt. A. McCarty, will

—The St. Louis Repubtican of Saturday
says • Business continues to improve

rapidly and an unusually early season is
upon us already. Boats arrive and depart
for all points with uninterrupted raga•
laxity, and the various packet companies
radiating from hese have fully completed
their arrangements for the year. All are
in good condition, and the presumption
is that with a good stage of water, trans
portation and passenger business of the
Mississippi and tributaries during the
year 1869 will be immense--probably
greater that' it has ever been. Corn
Prospects are favorable in all quarters',
:and the only thing to be feared is a spell
of cold weather. 1 1 .
—The Louisville Democrat intimatcm
that in a recent trial of speed between
the
out"Dexte and Robert E. Lee, the latter
came "second best," a nd , adds that
"the Dexter doesn't get out of the way
of any boat when it comes to speed."
—The Louisville Courier4ournal says
that freights are abundant on the Lower
1 Ohio. The Richmond got all she wanted
at forty cents per hundred pounds. ,
