PITTSBURGH LIVE STOCK MARKET PENN'A CENTRAL STOCK YARDS, / WEDNESDAY, Jan. 20, 1869. There has been thus far this week a pretty full supply of Cattle, and with a smaller number of buyers in attendance and unfavorable advices from the east, the market has been rather dull, though prices have undergone no quotable change. We noticed some of the buyers from Lancaster and other adjoining coun ties in the eastern part of the State, but there were but few Cattle here that could be bought at their price. • Philadelphia buyers wanted to buy prime to extra shipping steers at 734 to Bc, but it looked to-day as if they would have to come up a little, as holders Were obstinate, and threatened-In case they could not get their price, to ship east. The Cattle on sale this week were mainly from Ohlo; there were some few droves from Kentucky and In diana. The sales since the date of our last re port foot up two hupdred and thirty-nine head; we expect that the sales during the next few days will be much larger. The following are -the sales: Holmes, Lafferty di Co. to Tucker et Co. 5, weighing 5,325, at b; same to Barton 4, weighing 3,600, at 5. Smith& Blue to Kelly 10, weighing 9,075, at 6; same to same 6, weighing 5,675, at 4.75, Orr dr Williams to Kelly 33, weighing 39,- 300, at $BB per head; Leary to Kelly 36, weighing 40,150, at ftlii per. head; Maddox to Kelly 54, weighing 58,850, at 7. Crabb to Keller 23, weighing 19,400; at 4,40; Hedges it Taylor to Kelly 33, weigh ing 38,500, at 6,123.6. Smith& Blue to Goldstraehm 5, weighing 3,900, at 4,40; Gallagher to Bunion 5, weigh ing 8,175, at 9,25; same to same 1, weighing 1,225, at 9; Smith t Blue to Huntsburger 3, weighing 2,250, at 4; Cline to Andrews 2, weighing 2,400, at 8,50; Holmes, Laffeaty & Co. to Andrews 6, weighing 7,225, at 8,50; Hedges and TiNylor to Smithl3, weighing 14,750, at 4,5 g. • - The Hog market is considerably firmer than it was at the date of our last report, on Saturday, and• the decline- then noted has been more than recovered. The arrivals continue light, and the supply, es pedially of prime fat Hogs, is very small. and to this may be attributed the im provement in prices. New 'York Hogs sold at from 9,75 to 10,25; Baltimore 'Hors 10,75 to 11, and Philadelphia. Hogs . at 11;25 to 11,75. One bunch of extra 'Hogs was bought by an Altoona butcher at 12,25, which, we believe, is the highest prise re ported at these yaxds this season, though it was donbtless_the finest bunch of Hogs that has been offered — within the last tvrelve months. The sales since the date of our last report footed up 3,216 head, as follows: Monday , 2,048 Tuesday Weaneaday There has been a fair bUsiness in the class of stock thus far" this week, and not withstanding the arrivals have been lib eral, the market, tinder the influence of a good demand, la firm, and prices well sus tained. The market for both Crude and Refined -was again exceedingly wild, and excited fo.dav, and prices have toughed! a point, in some' cases at least, whicii 7,haTe t not before been reached this season. Speculators, who on Saturday and Monday, refused to touch January at 3214 were wil ling to take the same month to-day at 34. and what is true of this mouth is equally applicable to others. Further, it was re ported that some of the New York "b alls" were pitching in on the creek to-day, buy ing all they could get, and that, too, at ad vanced prices, and this, of course. had a tendency to excite, and stimulate the mar ket here. 11==! As already intimated, was very much ex cited, and, compared with yesterday, an advance of fully one cent per gallon has been established. Spot oil, which sold yea terday at 15y,c, sold to-diy at 1630, and some of the later months brought the even seventeen cents. This is a material and unexpected advance, and took the whole trade by surprise, and the market, com pared with Saturday and Monday, has been completely reversed.
