failure in the matter of finding situations for

beneirolent individual lends blankets to the
poor from the end of October to the month
of May. Each article bears a' stamp to pre
vent their being pawned or sold. DuTing
the six years thissystem has been :carried
out, not one case of abuse is reported.

festival this country has / ever witnessed, a
festival the concerts or which will be per
formed by a thousand instruments, twenty
thousand voices, and all the bells, artillery
and •musketry / , of Boston touched off as
choruses by electric wires. This festival is
gotten up by Gillmore, of Gillmore's band,
and is called the Grand National Peace
Jubilee and Musical Festival, and is to be
held on ' Juue / 15, 16 and 17, 1809, in a grand
coliseum built for the purpose, with fifty
thousand chairs for spectators.
