—We learn from a late London Petro
leum circular that holders of oil took ad
vantage of the low condition of stocks of
Refined In England during last month to
advance prices, and "corner" short sellers
for that month. This movement was made
at the same time that a similar one was in
progress at New York. The stock of Re
fined in London on November 28th, was
21,050 barrels and 854 cases, against 60,102
barrels at the seine date last year.

OYFICE OF THE PITTBURGH GAZETTE,

GENERAL REVIEW.
-The market has been considerably ex
cited and 'unsettled this- week, though
there was but comparatively little. done;
the sales footing up about the same as last
weak. The excitement was produced ,by
hsavy calb3 having beep made Ifor Decem
ber oil, which made operators apprehen
sive that a "corner" iptght attempted,
and as a conseqUencl3 - , some of thiv"shorts"
set about t 0.., cover up. :Prices, : for both
Crude and RbEmed are ,higher than they
were last week, though the mails-.t was a
little weak to-day. Receipts of Crude for
the — week, 4,170 bbls against 12,021 last
week; from January Ist to date, 1,042,883
against 706,900 same time last year. tx

week; from January Ist to .data 085,914,
against 660,94 same time last year: Sales

• CRUDE. •
The:market was unusually quiet and a
little offish, though notwithstanciinithere
were more sellers than buyers, so far as -
we could learn, there was no dißosition
manifested to make concessions in order
to effect sales. Spot, all Dcember, or any
delivery next year,
seller's option. may be
fairly quoted at 12%. Buyers option, all
1669, may he quoted at 15 to 16, with but ,
few, if any, offers to Nell. As' we have
already intimated. the sales 'during' the
week were largo, unusually so, but they •
wore most' for next years • delivery, sel
lers oritiou:and mostly atl2%.
the above was put in type, we'
can report the . following sales: 1,400 bbls
for December, seller's option, at 12%c;
15,000 April to December, 1669, Seller's op
tion, at- 12*, and 1,000 first •six months
Lit 12*.
REFINED. -
The Refined market was also very quiet
to-day, and a shade weaker for early de
liveries, while futures have undergone no
quotable change. December between•now
and the 21st may be quoted at 31 to 31%,
and last half, seller's option at 31. Bale of
1,000 bbls delivered on the 21st it 31%; and
.1,000 each January to June at; 313 i. The
sales during tho week were rather light.
though compared with last week, prices:
are higher, and the market soraewltat
stronger.
