The supply of Cattle on sale to day, was
unusually light, only reaching about 900
head, and the great proportion of these
not' suitable_
were of a poor quality, not' suitable tor our
beat butchers, nor -yet-good enough for
shipment. The market was fairly active,
though not , as much so as might have boon
expected under existing dri!:nui:or'almces, the
"limber on sale being smaller than for
several weeks preceding, and besides there
were several eastern buyers in , attendance.
All of the best cattle were picked up by
the butchers at rather_ better prices than
shippers were willing to pay; and as a con- 1
aequence the taken ' for shipmen twas sm a ll. ,
There were rather more stook
cattle on sale than for some time past one
firm alone, havingone hundred_head; and
these were sold'Mostly - at 33i to 635, as to
quality and condition. Prime butchers
stock sold at front 7,25 to 7,50, and extra do
at 7,75 to 81.. the number sold at the outaide
'quotation was very small. 'Medium butch
