Gold was very doll and wee and de clined about 1 per cont.; at ttelos, the market was steady, and numers buyers were anxious to cover their wants. A 6 or 7 per cent. money market, }lever, is unfavorable to a rise of gold prelim, and the almost certainty of electing tch per sons to manage our finances as v restore confidence in the paper issues obi) Uni ted States Government, will &mob to depress the premium. Government bonds were dull tuy, and declined about ;4 per cent., in apathy with the price of gold and the trilling ness of large holders to buy aoresent prices; any further decline in :1 like wise influence the price of % r ifl es. S There is nothing really new orimportant to note in the tone of the general markets. Wheat has advanced considerably in Chi cago within the past forty-eight hours, but as the advance is owing wholly to a specu lative movement, it is tilt likely to be per _ inanent, and it may go lower than it has been at any time yet. OFFICE OF THE PITTSBURGH GAZETTE, • THURSDAY, October 8, 1868. CRUDE The market was exceedingly quiet to day, not a single safe repotted, and so far as we could learn, there was but little of fering, and very little inquiry to buy. Prices however, remain unchanged, 12% being regarded as the standard quotation for spot, as well as all the month. Novem ber and December, may be fairly tooted at 12, the last sales reported being , at the fig ure. The first half of 1869, is nominal at 10 cents, sellers option;there has not been a sale for that delivery . for some weeks, but the last one reported was at that figure. • REFINED The Refined market was also excet-d -ingly quiet to-day, and compared with yesterday, there is but litttle change in prices. Sale of 1,000 bbls f r first half Oct., ' sou for last half at 31. Later in , A was the be,t offer for the last half but it is only fair to state, there were no sellers. The last three months are nom inal at 30 offered, and 30 1 ,4 asked; Nov. alone 301/, to 30% and December 30. During the past few days.
