This was a very interesting day to nearly'
every one connected with. the oil business,
, being deliver y day, as it was believed that,
the developments brought out would fore
shadow the c ourse of the market for next
.month. So far as we could learn, however,
everything passed off. guns ly, no one that
we could hear of being short, and, so far as
prices are concerned, there way but little.
difference between the market of, to-day
and that of yesterday. There was buts
single sale reported, 1,000 bbls, on spot, at.
30c; yesterday there were sales reported at
303 i to 30 , y,c. Late in the afternoon it was
reported that October was considerably
firmer, with offers to buy at 303 x, to 31c.
Thus ends another eventful month in the
oil business—a month that has been char
anterizei by more violent fluctuations in
- prices than any other preceding' month this
year. Eventful too, because, many in
dulged in strong'expectations that Septem
ber would do for them what other months
had failed to do.
