dull and rather inactive, althOrgh there
has been a • fad 'complement in the pens.
Eastern . buyers seemed afraid to purchase,
I exceptat low rates, as many of them lost

There were some very fair cattle offering,
bat ou account of the low offers, holders ex

SHEEP AND LAMBS.
, During the past week the market has had
a large number of Sheep' and Lambs on
sale, but they were mostly of a poor char
acter, and many of them could hardly be
called "scallawags" of the first order. This
last was :.ve - and •nominal in price,
whilst' anything apprciaching a first class
ariele sod ready at fine pri es. •

Business was fairly active at the landing

whiph the hull swung round to the Arkan
sas shore and sunk in the:water seventy feet

senger, Mr.Gray,'who 'was lost, was a safe

to the great depth of water and the usual
deposit of mud, under which the Father of
