SEC. 1. Be it ordained and enacted- by the Select
and common Councils of the City of Allegheny; and
it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same,
That the Committee on Streets be and they are here
by authorized and directed to invite and receive pro
posals for the Grading and Paving of ST. CLAIR
STREE r, in the First NVard, from Tremont alley to
Borland's alley; BEECH STREET, from Allegheny
avenue to Western avenue; CHESNUT STREET'',
from Third street too'Hara street; I.ACE ALLEY,
from Isabella street to Rose alley. And for the
Grading of FRAZIER STIIEET, DIVINE ALLEY
and NE SON'S ALLEY, from the northern termi
nus of Shields alley to the Perrysville plant road.
and to contract therefor with the lowest and best
bidder or bidders. at their discretion.
SEC. 2. That for tile purpose of defraying the cost
and
. c7venses of the said priproveme . nts, there be
,
and is hereby levied a special tax, to he equally as
sessed upon the several lots bounding and abutting
upon said streets and alleys respectively. in pro
portion to the feet front in them respectively com
prised, and bounding and abutting as aforesaid.
SEC. 3. That as soon as the cost and expenses of
said Improvements shall be fully ascertained, it shall
be the duty of the Street Commissioner to. assess
and apportion the same among the several lots
bounding and anutting upon said streets and said
alleys respectively. according to the rule above
Indicated, and 'thereupon proceed to make demand
and collect the same, according to the provisions of
the act of the General Assembly of the, Common
wealth of PetillSylVanla, entitled "An Act defining
the manner of collecting the expenses of grading
and paving - of the streets and alleys of the City got
'Allegheny, and for other purposes,' passed the :Atli
of 'March.
SEC. 4. That so much of any ordinance as may con
flict with or be supplied by the foregoing, be and the
saute Is hereby repealed.

SEC. 1. Be it ordain‘d and enacted by the Select
and Common Councils of the City of Allegheny, and
it is &trek/ enacted by authority of the same. That
the sewer Commission shall pat to the contractors
for the building of the North Avenue, Sedewick
street and Federal street Sewers, Eighty', (SO) per
cent of the contrast price of the same on estimates
made by the City- lingiueer. every thirty days, as
the work progresses: Provided. That the ICommis•
Mon may withhold the payment of said estimate if
in• their judgment. the contractors fall to comply
with all the conditions of their contract or con
tracts.
SEC. 2. r Any ordinance or' part of ordinance that
may conflict with the foregoing be and the same is
hereby repealed.

sewers shall not be construed as applying to the
property of the P. Ft. W. A C. R. W. Co.. abutting
on the tine of Seagwick street sewer, where the
same passes through the private property of the
company.
