MONEY AND GOLD.
- NEW YORK, September 11, 1868.
Money easy at ?@5 on call. The plans o f
the bear. clique have been partially made
public. They already sold short five mil-
Bonk of goyeriments, t twentyto twenty-five
thousand shares railway stocks and seven
millions - gold, which is said to be merely
the beginning of the campaign. Rumor
saysthey are putting out a great
amount of money at. sellers' option at
thirty to sixty days, the money received
from the ten per cent. margins to be de
/ posited in trust companies. Whew this is
( completed, the story goes, that money is
' to be made tight by locking up greenbacks.'
It is intimated that some bank officials are
to be let into the ring. Report also
says that the Erie clique is to 'sell
the five millions of, stock purchased by
Vanderbilt, the mon ey , realized, tbereon to
. be lockeql up. The affair seems well,
planned, lout depends entirely' on' actightl
money market. S:erlintc - and un-'
chanced. ' Gold opened at - 1433,1 and cloSect
