OFFICE OF THE Pra - LbRUBOH GAZETTE, FRIDAY, September 4, 1868, —Money continues abundant in New York at 3to 4 per cent., and banks and bankers hare great difficulty in placing their funds. The amount of loanable capi tal continues largely in excess of the needs bf borrowers on call. Commercial paper is wanted and first-olim names pass at 6to 7 per cent. At the close of business on Wednesday - large blocks of money were offered at 3 per cent. without takers. ' —The New York Tiibune, of Thursday: in referring to Government bonds, says, The. Investment to-day has been heavier than for three mdnths, and large amounts have been bought by banks and savings institutions. The dealings were fully $5,- 000,000, and well distributed on the list. HeaVy sales were made early in the day to break the markOt for political effect, but without producing any result except to further increase' the present enormous short interest.' The Boston and Philadel phia markets are bare of bonds, and the dealers in the latter city are fully two mil lion's short. The amount of bonds already engaged for Frankfort for Saturday's steamer is over ono million, all of them of the new issues, and of theamount $300,000 are hi 67's, which are now the cheapest bond on the market and the favorite with the Gernian bankers. The large amount of bonds now being taken from the street will haw? a marked effect upon the deal ings in the street, and with the feeling that now obtains, that the public faith will be kept with the public creditors, and that the election of Grant will leave the settle ment of the financial question in the same hands that made the debt, will advance our securities both at home and abroad.
