Mir Money loaned on Government Bonds at low est market rates. Orders executed for the Purchase and Sale of STOCKS, BONDS and GOLD. JAMES T. BRADY & CO. Ct't littsbutgil Gmfft, OFFICE OF THE PITTSBURGH GAZETTE, THURSDAY. August 13. 1868. Government bonds are very dull to-day, and transactions were confined to the small demand for counter use of the regular deal ers, although gold has advanced rapidly last week, from 145 to 150. The market in governments did not respond to the ad vance, but absndance ofnioney forces mon. led institutions into the market to buy bonds to employ their surplus funds. Cap italists are not purchasers of government bonds at piesent. The general impression is, that as soon as the drain for eurreneyis westward, and money commands better interest, Governments will decline. For stocks, reason for an early decline is given in the entire absence of outside buyers, and the whole load of the market has to be carried by the cliques they alone sustain the market and transactions are among their own members to give the market appearance of activity. Gold is remarkably firm and seems to have tonebed, bottom yesterday, for a new rise which the bull clique, headed by a speculative Wall street Banker, is going to engineer. For commercial as well as for political reasons, a rise of the' gold premi um is inevitable; the late decline was the work of a few German bankers aided by importers who are largely short in gold; the best proof for this is in the unusual low rate of exchange, at which especially German houses sell their bills. So soon as they have sold enough exchange to cover their short gold contracts they will join the bulls and rally the market to whatever point their leader sees fit to carry it. The arrivals, as might have been ex pected, were very light during the week, and with a better attendance of buyers, the market although by no , means active, was if anything better than could reasonably have been expected under existing circum stances. Philadelphia was pretty well rep resented, having a pretty full , delegation "and there was also a goodly number of stock buyers `rem : neeeter, and other_ d joining counties in the eastern part of the State. Ohio stock to Rowe, at 4,75. =E2I There was an unusually large supply of sheep this week, mainly of a common and inferior order, and as a consequence the market was a very bard one for sellers. Prime fat sheep, however, were scarce, and one small bunch averaging 112 lbs brought 6 cents, and we have no doubt but 'what a large number`of this grade of sheep could have been sold at from 5 to 6-cts if they had been here. As we have alreadY remarked, however, the offerings were mainly of a low order and holders were obliged to sell at low prices, ranging from 234 to 3%@3X cts, the great proportion of the sales having been made within the above range. As we haVe repeatedly remarked in these col umns, it la! always best for farmers and stock growers to ship their best stock, as it I:, will always sell and bi ing a good -price, no matter whether the market is good or bad.'
