Democratic macs meeting, at Atlanta, Ga.,
on the 23d nit.: - •
"From Maine to California the glorious
" tramp of the - Democracy is growing more
andlnore distinct, and by . November a ver
dict will be pronounced. And when the
peopleshall have pronounced that verdict,
the Court will take courage and pronounce
their judgment. Then—ah then, what will
become of you, 'ye isolated hypocrites; all'
power to threaten gone; treachery ex
hausted, relief measures and reconstruction
measures both dead, the Radical party out
of • Congress, what will becotne - of you?
-"Ye generation of vipers, how will you
escape the damnation of hell?" That's ,
what is coming. Oh, it's coming; thank
fled, it's coming—coming to the cheer of
patriots and , the, dismay . of traitors. Yes,
I tell you victory is coming. We have suf
fered, and suffered much; our comrades are
sleeping. Ah, sleeping! many of them by
the streams and in the valleys of Georgia.
They are sleeping on the banks of the deep
rolling Mississippi; they are sleeping
all over Virginia, grander than the pyra
mids of Egypt and richer than the mines of
India. [Enthusiastic cheeis.] Spirits of
our departed braves, we are not yet die
honored ! and though the vile, the low, the
' corrupt, and the perjured are seeking to be
iatir rulers,• and have seized upbn our high
places, the noble, the valiant, and the true
are.still left to ns, and through all our bor
ders are taking courage and hymning the
notes of coming triumph. Ye miserable
spairas of political accidency, hatched by
the putrid growth of revolutionary corrup
tion into an ephemeral existence—renegades
from every law of God and violators of
every right of man—we serve you with
notice this day that this victory is coming.
The men of the South and the men, of the
North—patriots everywhere—are 'sending
up their vows to heaven that this is and
slu, t
brever be a Union of equal States, and
never . hateful Union of unequal States.
[Wil cheers, lasting several =mites.]
Men of pride, . -men of character, women
thank God—without a dissenting voice, and
even children in their play-grounds, are ,
proclaiming-on' hill top and in valley that
those whom God made superior shall not be
degraded to the dominion of the inferior.
The Platform Means Blair—and Nothing
___
MEM
The Charleston Mercury says: "The plat'
farm of the Democratic party is square upon
as letter of General Blair, and Gen. Blair's
ietter is 'the legitimate and actualezpkinding
of the platform, It will sireil little ti•Ndeny,
it, North, South, East or West. Any palls 6
ellen or the fact is a perversion of the fact.
It is more—it is ill-faith to the body of the
Convention—and it is an 'attempted decep
tion of ,the voters at the polls. The Rich
. mond Examiner is correct when it says
.that-those who attempt to lead the Demo
cratic party, if they intend to abandon its
platform, 'might as well abandon the field,
as they are' hipped already.? "
.The Richmond Whig says: ,
"We have no-exactions to make of the .
Northern-Democmcy. We take their plat,
form and thelr candidates just as they are.
We have no objection to make to them. We
believe that it is the aim of the party to
break down Radicalism, e ut an end to its
unconstitutional legislation, and restore the
Southern States to the Union oh a constitu
tional basis, and without negro suffrage.
Hut the platform been less strong and une
quivocal, and the candidates less pronounced
and outspoken, we should have accepted
them." --t_
Repudiation a Faiorite Doctrine
Thb Charleston Mercury gives public no
tice that the Seymourites of that State will
neither obey the - laws nor recognize the
debts of her present government. Says this
admirer of Frank Blair: •
"We can scarcely believe that any man
.will be so fool-hardy as to loan his money
---to a Government which has been set up by
- the bayonet; and may not last over three
months; and which those who establiihed
it have declared to be unconstitutional.
'Fraud is worth very little , in governments
without the bayonet._ Notoriously,, by the
law of all civilized nations, it vitiates all
contracts; and a greater fraud than the car
pet-bag government, now affecting l • legit'.
snacy,in Columbta, never raised its brazen
front-for the persecution of any people,
Let everyone, therefore, who is disposed to
loatills'money to the carpet-baggers and
negroesdistinctly understand that the peo
ple or South Carolina will pip not one farth
ing of the debt. We have, no, obiection
-whatever to their being swindled,by Gen.
Scott's Government, but they will 'not swin
dle the• State,"
The Cartridge-box to be Appealed To.
At the Georgia Democratic State Conven
tion many violent things were said. Among
them the following , by Mr. J. M. Ramsey,
of Columbus:
"We have aroused in our might once .
More, under the leadership of Seymour and
Georgia had passed through a fiery
ordeal. Some of her children,, during the
war she was compelled to wage, deserted
her and joined her .enemies. Let them be
like Arnold, forever accursed. We have
seen our, soldiers fall, our cities in flames,
our citizens torn fro i m peaceful homes. We
will now, at all hazards, recover our lost
Ilbertiea and restorer he State. We are in
the midst of a great revolution; which may
end peacefully at the ballot-box; but. if no - 4

SHATTERED CONSTITUTIONS.
Our constitutions are elastic. They are not easily
shattered. In fact, strictly speaking. Death alone
can shatter Them, for they represent the reserve of
vitality, which enables the enfeebled system to
re
act, when the pressure of disease is ' removed from
it. But it is the fashion, when the body is weak.
the circulation languid, the nerves tremulous and
the mind depressed, to Say that the constitution is
ruined, or broken down, or shattered. In cases of
the kind described, administer HOSTETTER'S
STOMACH BITTERS, and it will soon be seen how
little ground there is for this stereotyped note of
alarm. The tont, and alterative properties of the
specific, rapidly diffused through the whole organ!.
nation by the stimulant which forms the basis, will
immediately create a favorable reaction, and this
reanimating process will go on as the medicine is
continued, until strength, health and mental ac
tivityare completely restored. Every day cures of
this kind tire accomplished. Let the debilitated in
valid, when toldpy his condoling friends that "his
constitution is shattered," have recourse at once to
this strength-recruiting preparation, in which the
finest stomachics and alteratives of the vegetable
kingdOm'are represented, and he will soon be able
to meet their gloomy forebodings with a confident
smile, and to announce' that he has taken a new
lease of life under its vitalizing operation:
CURE OF FISTULA.
Dn. IMAM= I write to thank you for your kind
ness and • scientific management of my disease, for .
which I called to consult you some time in January
last. You'will remember that I had a compligtion
of dLseases, which finally ended in a terrible fistula,
which : I had heti advised to "let atone , " on ac
count of a harassing cough, which it was feared
might fasten it on mg.langs: I knew that the peen
lair mode ortreating diseases like mine was by a
cutting operation, which, if successful at all, would
naturally throw the disease upon the lungs or some
other vital organ, on account of the suddenness of
the cure and the immediate check to the discharge,
which I believed:was a salutary provision of nature
to get rid of soma morbid condition of the system.
I feel perfectly satisfied thatvour method'of treat
ment, nitrifying the system, and local applications
to the fistulorui part. niust cure' if anything could,
withopt cutting; which I find It did, and I am happy
to report myself well in every particular, with
sounder and better health than I have had for years.
I would also add that the , applications you made
were almost paitiless,'and have left me a new man,
with all the energies and vizor of restored health.
Yours, gratefully, I- C-.
