Large number., of well-to-do-Swiss
citizens have Purchased, through their agent,
Captain Phirnachei, forty thousand acres of

—On Monday evening a young man
named Jacob G. Orth, living in dleveland,
shot his father, Henry Orth, in the breast.

prove fatal. The crime was committed
while the young man was in a furious pas
sion, and he delivered himself up to the

thorities immediately afterwards.

of North Wilton, Conn., while going
through the Cavalry exercise 'with a sabre,
accid6tally struck his little six year old son
upon the neck, nearly severing the head
from the body. ,When the horrified father
saw what he, had done he attempted to com
mit suicide, but was retrained by the neigh
bors.

between two men, one - in a one-horse gig
and the other` in a velocipede. The race
was a long one, ,the contestants staring
from Castres at twelve o'clock. The horse
car won, arriving at Toulouse at six o'clock,

minutes afterwards.

ing suicide in pare, has been to ascend the
