Protection, and could have been reached by

talists and laborers, and men of all classes
and conditions in the State; each finding his
personal advantage and profit in the pros
perity of all others, and.each contributing

Mr. D'lsnszu has achieved a victory of
temporary value, by the small majority
which threw out the. Irish Church bill, in
the Hours of Lords, on Tuesdays .A Small as
the majority of five was, it was ample for
his present p,uriboien, and makes the Parlia
mentary end of . that bill. The struggle
meat be agitin etuninenced; ds novo. by the
Liberal party in the Commons, introducing
and passing a new bill to the same end, and
to encounter a similar rejection by the
Peers, or they must resort to popular agita
tion to influence the elections for a. new
House in the autumn. Backed by the
upper House, the Ministry can Only be
reached, in such a contingency as this, by a
resort of the Liberal majority to extreme
measures, such as would be, first, a vote of
want of confidence, or, second, a reflisal to
