streets on the Fourth of July, and the sad accidents
which havie annually resulted from this injudicious
'mode of ctlebrating our National Holiday, have hi
duced a large number of our most influential citi
zens, including property owners, underwriters.
and others deeply interested in the safety of prop
erty within our city precincts, to address me on the
subjeet. requesting that I should enforce the City
Ordinances prohibiting it. This it is unquestiona
bly my duty to do. and I now hereby give notice
that I will give it my xB?ECtAL attention. All of
fenders against the law will therefore be rigidly
prosecuted. and the fines sed penalties imposed, IN
EVERY CAFE, without regard to person.
