Few' speculators have the hardyhood to
buy on the probability of seeing a higher
market soon, and importers are determined
to buy, so long as the government has not
paid out a considerable amount of coin
coming from the treasury, for interest. ~
Goverment bonds'were weak to-day, ex
cept 1881 s, ten-forties and 1865 five-twen
ties, old, or which there is a considerable
snort interest created for the purpose of
running down quotations, as soon as the
gold market begins to get old. The con
versons of seven-thirties is going on more
rapidly but there is time yet to July 15th.
Stocks are dull and lower, and the well
informed parties of Cleveland 6t Pittsburgh
stock find themselves a little puzzled at not
seeing this special favdrite stock Jump to
par, although it is a better investment now
than it was six months ago. Express
shares are dull and lower. Mining shares
inactive.
Boarder State bonds are still in demand
and rising; they are next to Pacific Rail
road bonds, the cheapest securities in the
market, and much iu demand. '
Money is scarcer, although business is
inactive.

CRUDE—The market was decidedly
feverish to.day, and . operators appeared to
be even more feverish, if such a thing were
possible. There was but comparatively
little done, and prices seem to be drooping
here, while an advance is reported at 011 •
City, 1,4,80 to 55 beinig the quotations at
that point. The sales here were: 500 bbls,
on spot, at 12'-c; 1,000 for July, seller's
option, at 1214, and 4,400 bbl l 4 in tank, on
spot, at 12c. Spot oil may be quoted at 12
12,c, while for future deliveries it is
possible to give quotations in the present
condition of the market. The stock of spot
oil in the hands of dealers and on sale, is
ported light, but it is equally true that the
supply seems to ba up to the demand.
REFINED—The market for bonded oil
was very quiet, but a atingle sale, reported..
500 bbls for the last half of August at 32c.
June may be quoted at 30c; July, 303 to
31c; August, 313 c to 32c; August to. Decem
ber, 32 to 3234 c, ands -August to October;
3234 c - There appeared to be considerable
inquiry for August to October at quota
tions, while, August to , December, or the
last six -months, , is a ' little dull, and, if
anything, a shade lower. For the early
months, there is some inquiry, but, sellers ,
are scarce, and, sq fix as we can learn, the
offerings generally are light. Refiners do
not seem inclined to sell until they have
first secured crude enough to cover, with a
margin in , view, which they allege, is al
most out of the question at present, and
this accounts for the limited number of
offers to sell. -

480 bbls for Leech ca; Wood, and 50 for J.
McFarland.
